Maa Committees of 20 Dosti Villages.
TASKS OF MAA COMMITTEES
Maa (Mothers') Committees are being formed at the outset, whenever work is taken up in target villages.
The committees are able to perform tasks of mobilization and are in the forefront as Barefoot Eco Entrepreneurs (BEEs).
Depending upon the aspects that require focus, Maa Committees are tasked with implementation.
EXAMPLES OF MAA COMMITTEES PERFROMACE
Three of the four schools built so far in Pono cluster, were completed by Maa Committees, who also ensure that all children attend school and fees of teachers are paid.
In some cases they act as audit committees to see that in chulahs, briquettes are being used as fuel and the use of twigs etc. is discouraged; or in the case of eco toilets, compost is being made and the toilets are kept clean etc.
As a savings scheme among women is being initiated, Maa Committees are taking the responsibility of ensuring that all housewives begin putting away the agreed amount every day in the locally fabricated terracotta moneyboxes.
